Your Dog's Skin

General hygiene

beautiful coat & healthy skin

How often should I brush my dog?

A dog's coat needs to be brushed on a regular basis to eliminate tangles or mats. Long-haired dogs should be brushed daily, whereas short-haired dogs can be brushed once or twice a week.

Make sure to brush all the hair and not just the topcoat. You may have to brush backward against the lay of the fur to remove excess hair.

How often should I bathe my dog?

Dogs rarely require a bath, unless there are skin issues.  However, a good wash may be required if your dog's hair or skin smells. Always use a shampoo specially formulated for your dog's skin such as DOUXO® S3 CARE.   It contains OPHYTRIUM™ and supports the health of your dog's skin barrier.

Should I clean my dog's ears?

If you see any excess wax or dirt in your dog's ear, or if your dog is shaking his or her head frequently, consult your veterinarian first for a recommendation.  If your veterinarian recommends cleaning the ears, use DOUXO®  Micellar Solution, a degreasing, pleasant-smelling ear cleaner that gently lifts away dirt and debris without stripping the skin of the natural oils.
